Documentation import

New page

[[File:admin_calendar.png|thumb|right|The calendar editor]]
The '''calendar''' records which days are non-working days. It is maintained per year and is used by planning to decide whether a given date should be processed.

== What it affects ==
The calendar is consulted when a [[Scenario]] has '''Workdays only''' set. With that flag, planning skips the days marked in the calendar, so no processing is planned for them.

Scenarios without the flag are unaffected and are planned every day regardless of the calendar.

Because the calendar drives what is planned rather than what is executed, changing it does not alter processings that have already been planned.

== Maintaining the calendar ==
The calendar editor is part of the '''Author''' module. It shows one year at a time as twelve month grids.

# Select the '''year''' from the drop-down.
# Click a date to mark or unmark it as a non-working day. Marked days are highlighted.
# Click '''Save''' to store the changes, or '''Cancel''' to discard them.

The year selector is disabled while there are unsaved changes, so save or cancel before moving to another year.

== Practical notes ==
* '''Maintain the calendar ahead of time.''' Planning can only skip a holiday that has already been entered. A year with no entries behaves as though every day is a working day, which is why the flag can appear to have no effect on a newly installed system.
* '''Weekends.''' Confirm how weekends are treated in your installation before assuming they need to be entered by hand for every year.
* Keep it under one owner. A calendar edited by several people during the year tends to end up with a partially populated year, which is worse than an empty one because the gap is not obvious.
