System settings
System settings are held in the repository and are edited in Author → Settings. The section requires the Admin role.
Settings are a fixed list — they cannot be created or deleted. Selecting one opens an editor in which only the value can be changed; the name and description are read-only. Each setting keeps a revision history, reachable from the History button.
The type of the setting determines the input control: a text field, a single character, a number, a checkbox, or a drop-down for settings with a fixed set of options.

The settings
Execution
| Setting | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| ParallelLimit | Integer | 24 | The global parallelism limit — the maximum number of tasks running at once across all scenarios and processings. When it is reached, no further task starts until a running one finishes, successfully or not. See Resource management. |
This is the simplest and bluntest load control available, and the one to reach for first on an installation where tasks impose broadly similar load.
Retention
| Setting | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Archive limit | Integer | 300 | Number of days of history kept in the operational tables. Older logs are moved to archive tables, where they remain reachable through direct database access. |
Interface
| Setting | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| GuiNoInsert | Boolean | off | When set, definitions cannot be created or saved through the GUI at all. Used where definitions are deployed from a controlled source rather than edited in place — typically production. See Authoring items#GUI noinsert mode. |
| TreeView | Boolean | on | Whether the Author module navigates by the task hierarchy tree. |
| GuiProcHistoryDays | Integer | 100 | The maximum number of days shown in the list of processing dates. |
| Help URL | String | Base URL of the wiki help pages. A log out and log back in is required before a change takes effect. |
Environment
| Setting | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Environment | Option | Which environment this installation is. See Environments. |
| URLBaseProd, URLBaseTest, URLBaseDev, URLBaseUat, URLBaseSit, URLBaseOther1, URLBaseOther2 | String | Base URLs of the other installations, used by the environment switcher. |
Extension points
| Setting | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ExportPostProcess | String | An SQL procedure generating additional script content after an export. It takes two arguments — the task ID and the query text — and returns a result set of one column and any number of rows, concatenated as separate lines. |
| ExtMsgProcedure | String | An SQL procedure supplying custom messages into the message log. It takes the task ID, processing date, processing history ID, schedule ID and session ID. |
These two are hooks for site-specific behaviour and are empty on a standard installation.
Settings that no longer exist
Several settings documented for the previous version of the product have been removed and are not present in Dafne:
| Removed setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| StopIdle | The executor no longer stops itself when no processing is available. Its lifecycle is managed by the infrastructure; see Executor control. |
| Server path | The GUI no longer starts a locally installed server. |
| ImportPairByID | Related to the import function. |
| SmtpHost, SmtpSender | SMTP configuration has moved to the executor's application configuration. See Application configuration. |
If you are working from documentation for the previous version, these four entries are the ones most likely to send you looking for a screen that no longer exists.
Practical notes
- Change one limit at a time. ParallelLimit interacts with the group and connection limits; changing several at once makes the effect impossible to attribute. See Analysing processing performance.
- Use the history. Every setting is versioned, so a change that turns out to be wrong can be identified and reversed.
- Help URL still points at the old wiki on installations seeded from the original defaults. It is worth updating to the Dafne wiki.
